The Director of Graphics leads apparel graphic design for the Carters brand from concept through execution for both genders, ages 0-14

Concept, Innovation, Trend and Design- 60%

- Drive innovation in Graphics that is brand appropriate and on trend for both genders, sizes 0-14

- Lead and contribute to the development of unique art that demonstrates a versatility of techniques

- Lead the creative exploration for trend research, new techniques and materials as it relates to Graphics; partner with Design to ensure cohesive brand point of view

- Prepare seasonal trend and inspiration direction; ideate fresh ideas and communicate in a compelling, visual way that inspires the team and drives alignment

- Develop strong relationships and partner with CAD and Design team to ensure alignment for creative direction

Seasonal Development & Design Strategy -25%

- Inspire, manage and develop Graphics teams of 9+ graphic designers at various levels

- Provide feedback and guidance to team to edit and filter work to ensure brand appropriate, innovative design is presented

- Continuously develop / improve processes and work to reduce complexity in seasonal development

- Designate and monitor workloads and assignments to best utilize individual skillsets and aesthetics

- Utilize knowledge of brand positioning and competitive landscape to drive strategies for improved product assortment

- Manage freelance supplemental help as needed

Cross Functional Collaboration & Alignment - 15%

- Creatively problem solve with Design, Merchandising, Production Art and Product Development to deliver best in class Graphics presentation while meeting cost and quality requirements

- Partner with Legal team during development process to ensure legality of designs

- Partner with Designers at beginning of each season to ensure timely execution of assignments

- Monitor accuracy on artwork, linesheets and paperwork

Partner with Production Art team to ensure proper execution

- Leads a team of 6 direct reports; total team of 9

- Attend Graphics and cross-functional team meetings

- Carry out Annual Performance Reviews

Experience and Skills

- Demonstrates strong awareness of trends, market and customer for Boys, Girls, and Baby categories

- Ability to identify and interpret trend in a relevant manner appropriate for the Carters brand

- Strong understanding of layout, color and technique as it relates to graphics and characters as demonstrated through a portfolio of professional work

- Possesses strong working knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign

- Expert knowledge of manufacturing techniques of screenprints, rotary prints, embroidery, appliqu and trims

- Displays strong organizational skills and an eye for detail

- Ability to work in multi-task environment

- Displays high level of professionalism

- 10+ years of Graphics/apparel experience required

- Experience managing a large team required

- Experience with Illustrator and Microsoft office required

- Childrens experience preferred
