The Senior Director, Financial Shared Services establishes the strategy for the shared services department, including leading and managing Carters financial shared services function, and overseeing the operation of the current shared services footprint, which is comprised of accounts payable; travel and expense management; credit, collections and chargebacks; and payroll. The Senior Director, Financial Shared Services will partner with senior financial management to expand shared services capabilities, centralize services, evaluate delivery models, and determine optimal service locations. This role is also responsible for elevating the shared services function, developing, building and driving the future-state shared services model. He/she leads through influence and collaborates with partners across the Company to deliver a best-in-class customer experience in an efficient, cost-effective manner. Ensure teams are measured and held accountable to key performance metrics. Leverage dashboards, improve reporting and processes, and benchmark shared service departments to continue to evolve the department. Comply with local legal requirements by understanding existing and new legislations, enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions. Ensure effective communication between HR, Operations, Finance, and other departments regarding any change and impact to associates or the business

Global Payroll Operations - 25%

  • Lead the Companys strategic direction and administration of global payroll processes for all employees (approx. 20k employees)
  • Direct the implementation and maintenance of payroll processes to meet all local regulatory requirements. Ensure that processes are best practice and are compliant with regulations
  • Lead tax and regulatory reporting for quarter and year-end payroll activities including; wage and hour laws, unemployment, and all other required submissions that vary by country
  • Create a strategic plan for the production and distribution of all employee tax statements and notifications (i.e. W-2s, T-4s, etc.)
  • Develop and implement internal controls that will safeguard company assets and all confidential information
  • Provide vision, leadership, planning, project coordination and management for the design and development of cost-effective programs, products, and services while concurrently facilitating efficient operations to support current and future business needs
  • Directional leadership responsibility for production of weekly, bi-weekly, monthly and special compensation payroll runs (annual incentive, retirement plan Company match, etc.)
  • Strategic partner to all domestic and international payroll platform providers to ensure a seamless payroll experience

General Accounting - 15%

  • Maintain accurate books and records
  • Oversee the complete monthly, quarterly, and annual closing process
  • Ensure the accounting and reporting for initiatives are complete and accurate
  • Develop implementation strategy of process improvement opportunities
  • Perform analytical review of information provided to Corporate Accounting used for journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and external financial reporting

Credit, Collections and Claims/Chargebacks Operations- 25%

  • Ensure receivables/cash is collected timely and applied to receivables
  • Establish credit terms for customers and ensure sound financial disciplines
  • Investigate chargebacks timely and maximize recoveries
  • Develop strong relationships with DCs, order management logistics, treasury and accounting

Accounts Payable / T&E Administration - 25%

  • Ensure vendor payments and employee reimbursements are issued in a timely, efficient manner in accordance with internal and external policies and procedures
  • Maintain and update Travel policy; ensure training and compliance with policy, ensure team delivers monthly expense reporting
  • Manage chart of authority and approval to pay limits
  • Ensure compliance with escheatment rules
  • Ensure maintenance of vendor master and proper vendor setup, including ensuring the team runs Navex reports
Experience and Skills
  • 8 - 10+ years of demonstrated success in a high volume shared service department
  • Must have Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or closely related field
  • Experience supporting both hourly and salaried associates in a highly complex organization of approx. 20,000 or more employee
  • International - starting up international functions and integrating existing
  • Proficient with various software and ERP systems
  • ADP Streamline / Datahub and Pay@Work, iAdmin, Adecco, SAP, Fesco payroll knowledge preferred
  • ADP Enterprise V5 and ADP eTime experience required
  • Ceridian DayForce, preferred
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, Local and International payroll guidelines and regulatory requirements, strongly preferred
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft products; Excel, Access, Powerpoint, required.
  • CPA and/ or CPP certification desired
  • Must have successfully led a shared service function and have demonstrated experience building high impact teams, including managing payroll function
