Management and Supervision (15%)

  • Act as mentor and coach all team members (internal and external)
  • Ensure that every member of the team has their performance evaluated and clearly understands strengths and opportunities
  • Hire, promote, terminate, and counsel staff as required

Project and Initiative Delivery (65%)

  • Ability to design and develop complex BI/Analytics solutions
  • Serve as lead architect on multiple concurrent projects and collaborate with business team members, business leadership, Business Analysts and Project Managers to convert functional specifications into technical specifications
  • Develop strong business relationships and assist with BI project scoping and requirements gathering, understanding complex business questions and needs in wholesale and retail
  • Responsible for entire suite of tactical near real-time in-store reporting for over 850 retail stores, 90 District Managers and Regional Vice Presidents, to include mobile capability, Pricing, Retail Merchandising, Buying, Planning, Marketing, eCommerce and Omni-channel functions
  • Lead, manage and support field mobility reporting for store operations
  • Design/enhance dimensional data models integrating with existing enterprises data warehouse
  • Architect Micro strategy reporting layer from metadata to reports to dashboards
  • Lead until and integration testing activities and participate in user acceptance testing as needed
  • Configure and support BI tools. Develop the semantic layer and metadata to support ETL, analysis and reporting. Create and test end user dashboards and reports
  • Work with business to define longer term data needs, data sources and data architecture
  • Responsible for finding creative ways within the current data architecture to answer complex questions that may come from the business using advanced analytics. Ultimately helping to predict these questions and bring answers to the business to help understand current and future business needs.
  • Responsible for designing and/or approving design of enterprise data architecture platforms, to include business intelligence, operational data stores and master data management solutions
  • Design/enhance relational and dimensional data models integrating with existing enterprises data warehouse, operational data stores, or master data environments
  • Develop subject matter expertise in business processes for assigned business domain
  • Develop deep understanding of data used to support business processes and systems in assigned business domain (understanding the full landscape of our data architecture)
  • Partner with business and functional IT to identify areas of opportunity where additional insight (data and metrics) could add value
  • Identify, prepare, and evaluate datasets in order to gaining insights to business opportunities
  • Expose datasets through an end user layer by the use of various tools to source and store data and create meaningful metrics
  • Helps set strategic direction on analytical methods and techniques
  • Helps set strategic direction on processes, tools, and architecture to sources and store data and expose data and metrics through a self-service end use layer

Service Delivery Improvements (10%)

  • Collaborate on highly complex issue resolution with the functional IT teams as necessary
  • Implement fixes and enhancements to improve supportability, operability, or performance of the technical solution
  • Support incident resolution as needed
  • Participate and manage the BI/Analytics team in root cause analysis
  • Support offshore support delivery partners

Relationship and Leadership (15%)

  • Cultivate close working relationship with IT peers in order to understand overall requirements and identify opportunities
  • Contribute as an active and engaged member of the team to ensure the success of all enterprise projects
  • Work effectively with business partners by developing strong professional working relationships with all levels of management and associates
  • Ability to lead meetings with technical peers regarding the solution designs.
  • Ability to collaborate with Business Analysts and Project Mangers to convert functional specifications into technical specifications
  • Ability to articulate BI/Analytics designs and concepts to all levels of management
  • Provides status updates to appropriate levels of management

Administrative, Legal, SOX Compliance (10%)

  • Ensure all control and compliance regulations are fulfilled by team
  • Complete periodic resource plans for the team
  • Ability to develop the task plan for design and development activities for assigned projects
  • Review and approve time for the team
Experience and Skills
  • Hands on use of core BI toolsets to include ETL, front-end and data modelling
  • Proven track record of partnering with business in delivering quality business solutions
  • Hands on use of cloud data storage solutions
  • 7+ years of experience architecting and delivering BI solutions
  • 6+ years hands on experience with standard ETL and front-end BI toolsets
  • 3+ years analytical programming experience including predictive analytics and forecasting
  • Experience with Programming languages like R, Python, Javascript, other
  • Experience with Data visualization tools like Microstrategy, Tableau, PowerBI, other
  • Experience working in VLDB (Very Large Database) environments
  • 1+ years experience working with cloud data store environments such as AWS, Google or Azure
  • Bachelors and/or Masters Degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Information Technology or Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with Netezza is a plus
  • Experience with big data architectures is a plus
  • Broad knowledge in Retail, Supply Chain, or HR/Finance
  • Design, development and testing of common Business Intelligence architectures
  • Proficient at SQL
